That still is a GREAT shot! I would seriously frame that, or have it digitally enhanced to look watercolor or pay someone to watercolor it if that were my car. As it is, I saved the picture, and I'm not even a huge Beetle fan, though I like them well enough and grew up on Herbie. The exhaust looks like a rocket launcher or something that would fire tennis balls.

I have to put a cup over it when I park (watertrap) and it can shoot that pretty well.

Between the intake and the carb, there's a bracket that holds some stupid emissions device. This bracket was bent just so slightly to not seal.

Looks good. I pulled my 67 Bug out after all this winter crap left the NE (hopefully). It really is fun to drive. I love that roof rack. Mine has the factory sunroof so a roof rack would not make a whole lotta sense but it does give the car a great look. Are you going for the full on resto or a "barn-find" kinda style with patina?

I'm just gonna leave it like this, clear coat peel, dent, all that. The hood is getting painted but not how you think. I've also got some really nice wheels for it. I call this my "whim car" because every whim I get to change something I do. Like that exhaust, I just kinda decided to do it one day.
They make roof racks for cars with ragtops, not sure how well it would work with a sunroof. Believe it or not this is a '67, but it's a Euro so it's carried over from '66 so the lights aren't vertical.
Anyway, I have a '61 with gorgeous patina and that one I'm not going to do a bunch of silly shit with. Drop, wide smoothies. Easy.

I've seen pictures of your '61. That is some nice patina for sure. I've been to a few VW shows in CO and while the pan-off restos are nice, my favorites are those clear-coated patina beauties.
